SATA drive not detected in Windows or Disk Management but shows in BIOS

Today I purchased a new SATA drive to replace a lower capacity version. The model I purchased was Kingston A400 Solid State Drive 400GB

To my horror, the disk did not show up in Disk Management (right click Windows logo to access this).
Next I looked at BIOS settings and noticed that it did show up here, so I was confident that the hardware had been detected. Unfortuately my BIOS menu options were written in Chinese and it was very difficult to decipher, however I was able to use Google Lens to translate.

That aside, I came across a video that came came up with a rather unorthodox and quite plainly weird solution. It works as follows.

Run MDSCHED.EXE

This program ostensibly checks for RAM errors. For some reason unknown it solved the issue of my missing drive. Firing up Disk Management, the newly found un-initialized drive was displayed.

I hope this helps someone else!
