Son’ys web site at the time listed this as $1499 RRP.

On to the review…

The most impressive part of the set up would have to be the sub woofer, and probably worth the $250 alone. When set correctly (ie. both dials set to a little over half), the bass complements the sound well, and does not feel boomy or overdone. It gives a nice and very rumbly feeling esp in action scenes esp. where there are helicopters (think Die Hard!)

The two back speakers are not overly powerful, though I don’t think they’re intended to be that way. It’s impressive to hear bullets flying from the back speakers, and this is probably where I value these speakers the most. With the savs-350h, there is the option of joining 4 speakers into 2 which gives you a slighly more powerful 5.1 sound. My opinion is that 7.1 is a bit of a wank, and not many discs seem to support it, so I decided not to bother with it. It has the benefit of making the back speaker a tiny bit stronger in output.

Front speakers are good, have a nice range and are quite attractive asthetically. I like how the speaker component is raised by about 50cm from the floor so that most of the sound is directed at head level.

Centre speaker works well though it too seems to be not as powerful as the L+R, which is probably by design. They give good volume, more than you’ll probably need though I’m sure with higher end speakers could be driven harder.

I’ve coupled this with the Yamaha RXV-667 amp which is very nice! Lots of sound programs to experiment with. I’ve found that 7 channel stereo actually works really well with music. Otherwise Standard, Sci Fi and Spectacular are the ones I use the most for movies.

All in all a really good set of speakers, fantastic value for money.

I purchased this last year for an amazing price of $250.
